The Barnsdale Shop is the mail order section of Barnsdale Gardens. All the plants we produce are grown in a totally peat-free compost, although a small amount of plants not grown by ourselves, but sold on the nursery, may not be completely peat-free. Stock shown on the website may not be a true reflection of the stock on the nursery as, during busy periods, we may sell out on the nursery before we get a chance to alter the stock level for mail order. PLEASE NOTE: Offers given on our web site are not necessarily repeated if visiting our nureserry in person. Please check plant pricing before visiting. Before coming to the nursery to purchase plants seen on our website please email or telephone first to check stock availability, as the online shop is not necessarily a reflection of what we have available on the retail nursery at the time. Making A Purchase
Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our wide selection and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. Most plants are sold with an individual price or with a special multi-buy price. Internet offers are not replicated on the nursery, as they are internet only offers. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.
We accept Visa and Mastercard and all payments are taken and verified by Sagepay via a secure server. If you do not wish to pay online, you may phone the shop direct on 01572 813200 or send your payment by post.
If you have made a mistake in your order and cannot correct it in the shopping cart, contact us and we will correct the mistake.
When confirmation of your order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable. Please Note: Any item in the Special Offers section of the shop is an internet offer only and will not be on offer on the Nursery or in the Gift Shop.
VAT is included in the price of every plant at the standard rate.
Shipping And Handling
All orders despatched to UK mainland (excluding Scottish Highlands) are sent within 14 days of receipt, being despatched using a next day courier service - this means your plants will be with you within 24 hours of despatch, not 24 hours from the time the order is placed.
To maintain the high levels of care required to package and transport live materials and to ensure your plants arrive in perfect condition, a flat fee of £12.50 is charged for shipping plants on each total plants order.
Due to the varying postage costs to non UK mainland destinations we are unable to process orders directly from the web site. To order please list all requirements in an e mail or telephone us with a list and we will contact you with the postage costs as all orders despatched to the Scottish Highlands, EU and any other non mainland UK destination will need to be individually priced for postage and packaging.
We can also arrange a Saturday delivery to mainland UK destinations, if this is required, at an added cost to the standard postage and packaging charge.

We aim to deliver your order as soon as possible after receipt. We will normally send your order to you within 14 days from receipt of the order. PLEASE NOTE: Orders must be placed by 11:59pm on 20th December 2021. This should ensure delivery before Christmas although, as we use the Royal Mail letter post service, it is worth noting the current delays and that we therefore cannot guarantee pre-Christmas delivery.
All orders, once ready for despatch, are sent by UKMail on their next day delivery service and do not need to be signed for, therefore please input instructions on where the parcel is to be left if no-one will be at home.
If there is any problem with your order we will contact you prior to despatch.
We will endevour to despatch all plants ordered within 14 days of receipt of your order, although during busy periods this may be longer. You will be contacted, by email, prior to despatch of your order informing you of when it will be arriving. We endevour to ensure that every plant ordered is true to name and arrives in the best possible condition. However, if you have cause foir complaint please inform us in writing or by email as soon as possible. After what we consider to be a reasonable time (usually 14 days) from despatch we can no longer accept responsibility for the plants. Liability for all plants is limited to the purchase price of these plants. Purchase signifies acceptance of these terms.
If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
Credit Card Security
When the order is placed at our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach the Sagepay computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site. We are fully PCI compliant.
We only send plants of the highest quality and we guarantee these plants will arrive in perfect condition, ready for planting - with the exception of tender plants that should only be planted once the threat of frost has passed. We do not guarantee plants will survive any condition that is beyond our control, such as lack of water, over watering, mechanical damage, pest infestation after arrival, spray damage, winter loss or any other such cause. We will only replace plants that have died within a 4 week period of arrival, as long as none of the above conditions have caused the death.

Barnsdale Gardens do not disclose buyers' information to third parties other than when order details are processed as part of the order fulfilment. In this case, the third party will not disclose any of the details to any other third party.
Cookies are used on this shopping site where they are strictly necessary for the site functionality. They are used to aid navigation, and to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart. If you log in to an account, your logged-in status is recorded in a temporary cookie. If you select the 'Remember Me' Option in the checkout, a cookie will be used to remember your details. Data collected by this site is used to: a. Take and fulfil customer orders. b. Administer and enhance the site and service. c. Only disclose information to third-parties for goods delivery purposes.
Our Data Protection Officer is Nick Hamilton (owner). All data received via the ordering process is kept on a computer and in paper form, in a secure place, for a period of six months from when the order is processed. This is purely for reference purposes, should their be a problem with the plants or other items sent. After this time the data is deleted from the computer it is stored on and any paper copies of invoices or packing lists are incinerated. If you would prefer that we keep your data for a shorter period then please contact us and we would be more than willing to oblige.
Your rights to return goods are protected under the EU Distance Selling Directive.
You are entitled to cancel your order and return the goods within 7 working days for a full refund, including the cost of delivery. Do this by contacting us by email or telephone and quoting the order number supplied to you. Your refund will be paid within 30 days. You are responsible for the cost and risk of loss or damage when returning the goods, so you should take out enough postal insurance to cover their value. This cancellation policy does not affect your rights when we are at fault - for example, if goods are faulty or misdescribed.
Any goods returned should be in saleable condition.
If there is a need to replace a plant ordered then we may require the purchaser to return the problem plant for analysis.
These terms apply to your order. We may change our terms and conditions at any time, so please do not assume that the same terms will apply in the future.
None of these terms affect your legal rights and these are not diminished in any way. If any term is held to be invalid under any applicable statute or rule of law, that term is automatically omitted from the terms to minimum extent necessary to comply with the law and without affecting the validity or enforceability of the remainder.
All payment must be made at the point of ordering, with the exception of overseas orders that require a special postage and packaging rate or for orders delivered on a Saturday. Please contact us to arrange non mainland UK delivery or for special Saturday delivery.
