It's all about Dahlias for the next couple of weeks. Come and see these beautiful plants in all their glory. A great plant for this time of year, providing interest right into the autumn.
Dawn enjoys recreating the colours which the changing seasons and the natural world bring us, relishing the challenge of capturing light, drama and detail in the plant world. She will be hosting an Open Studio here at the gardens to view and buy original botanical art. Cards, prints and stationery will also be on sale. Dawn will be demonstrating how she draws and paints, in watercolour, the natural world.
On Friday 13th September, artist Kathryn Parsons will be working with porcelain clay in the Garden Studio, creating miniature porcelain sculptures and decorations inspired by Barnsdale’s beautiful plants. Pop in to watch and chat about her work, 11am - 4pm. There will be work available to purchase, and you can also click here to sign up for a porcelain workshop with Kathryn on Saturday 2nd November.

Fellow local artist, Eve Marshall, will be joining Dawn on the 14th & 15th and Eve will be working on her felted art pictures, inspired by Barnsdale Gardens, throughout the day. Sometimes you'll see her wet felting the backgrounds and other times you'll see her needle felting smaller flowers and leaves. She will have a variety of finished pieces to see and buy too, including cards, prints and gifts.
We are running a programme of 20 minute free walks and talks on our nursery, covering a range of topics. These short but informative sessions will be given by Emma, who runs our nursery. There is no need to book, just turn up.
In the event of rain, the sessions will go ahead in Emma's big poly-tunnel.
